EA Process

The proposed Reid Road Reservoir Quarry is subject to a project-specific Environmental Assessment designation by Ontario Regulation 539/21, under the Environmental Assessment Act. The designation and exemption was made on July 29, 2021, and filed on July 30, 2021 by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP). The Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO) posting containing O. Reg. 539/21: Designation and Exemption: Reid Road Reservoir Quarry can be found here

Evaluation criteria and indicators to evaluate the effects of the project and the alternative methods of carrying out the project on the environment are to be developed in consultation with members of the public, agencies, Indigenous communities and other interested persons.

Then, studies will be conducted that address the effects of the project on the environment. These studies will be guided by the defined evaluation criteria and indicators. Members of the public, agencies, Indigenous communities and other interested persons will have the opportunity to review study work plans. The work plans outline the methodology for completing the studies and other detailed study requirements.

Finally, results from these studies will be documented in an environmental assessment. The draft will be shared at a Public Information Centre, updates made, then will be submitted to the MECP for review.  At that time, the public, Indigenous communities and other interested persons will be informed when and where the final environmental assessment can be reviewed.
